Day 1

Morning – Welcome & Essential Theory

• Introduction & course briefing
• Safety principles and responsibilities at sea
• Collision regulations (COLREGS) made simple
• Understanding weather, tides, and local conditions
• Basic navigation essentials
• Planning your first route

Lunch Break – at the marina or local Spanish restaurants

Afternoon – Getting Aboard & First Hands-On Practice
• Boat familiarisation: controls, equipment, electronics
• Full safety checks & pre-departure procedures
• Slow-speed handling
• Finding the natural steering position
• Electronic navigation introduction (chartplotter, GPS)
• Man Overboard (MOB) recovery basics
• Anchoring techniques & practical anchor deployment
• End-of-day debrief

Day 2

Morning – Mastering Close-Quarters Boat Handling

• Slow-speed control refinement
• Turning in a confined space (ahead & astern)
• Approaching a berth safely
• Coming alongside with and against the wind
• Mooring lines, knots, and fenders
• Practical docking exercises

Afternoon – Final Skills & Assessment
• High-speed manoeuvring (weather permitting)
• Emergency stops
• Applying navigation skills while underway
• Instructor assessment & personalised feedback
• Q&A session
• Issuing of your RYA Powerboat Level 2 Certificate
